Hoof experts. Farriers are specialists who care for horses' feet by trimming and balancing their hooves to keep them healthy and strong. Just like you need regular haircuts, horses need regular hoof care to walk comfortably.

Blacksmith skills. Farriers use blacksmith techniques to heat metal and shape horseshoes, then nail them carefully onto a horse's hooves. The metal shoe protects the hoof and helps the horse grip slippery ground.
