Garuda

Divine Eagle Companion. Garuda is a magnificent creature depicted as a giant eagle or bird-human hybrid who carries the god Vishnu through the sky. He is one of the most important animal companions in Hindu mythology.

Son of a Sage. Garuda was born to Kashyapa, a wise sage, and Vinata, making him part of a divine family. He had a half-brother named Aruna, who became the charioteer that drives the Sun's chariot across the sky each day.

Ancient Stories. Garuda appears in many sacred Hindu texts called the Puranas and the Vedas, which are some of the oldest religious writings in the world. He is also honored in Buddhist and Jain faiths, making him important across several major religions.

Half-Brother to Many. Garuda is actually the half-brother to several groups of divine beings, including the Devas, Gandharvas, Nāgas, and Yakshas. This makes him part of a vast celestial family in Hindu mythology.
