Rainbow of colors. Gerberas come in red, pink, orange, yellow, white, and even purple. Some flowers have petals with two different colors mixed together, making them extra special.

African origin. Gerberas originally grew wild in South Africa, and Europeans first described them scientifically in 1889. The flower is sometimes called a Transvaal daisy or Barberton daisy after places in South Africa.

Part of a big family. Gerberas belong to the Asteraceae family, which includes sunflowers, daisies, and chrysanthemums. These flowers all have their petals arranged in a similar pattern around a central disk.

Popular in gardens. People love growing gerberas because they're beautiful, long-lasting, and come in so many shades. They make wonderful cut flowers for bouquets and arrangements.
