Tiny but mighty. House mice weigh only about as much as a few coins, but they are found on nearly every continent because they've learned to thrive in human homes, farms, and buildings.

Built for survival. With their pointed snouts, large rounded ears, and hairless tails, house mice are perfectly designed to squeeze through tiny spaces and detect danger with their excellent senses of smell and hearing.

Buddy to humans. House mice have lived near people for thousands of years, eating our stored food and shelter in our buildings, which is why there are far more mice living around humans than living completely wild.

Super common species. The house mouse is one of the most abundant mammals in the entire genus Mus, meaning there are billions of them living all around the world.

Global travelers. Humans accidentally brought house mice to nearly every continent by transporting them on ships and in cargo, making them one of the most widespread mammals on Earth.
