Cool Facts
Golden silk builders. Nephila spiders create stunning webs that actually shimmer with a golden color, which is why people call them golden silk orb-weavers. These webs are so big and strong that sometimes small birds and insects crash into them.
Warmth lovers worldwide. You'll find Nephila spiders in warm regions all around the world, living in forests, gardens, and even backyards where the weather stays hot and humid. They're built for tropical and subtropical places.
Remarkably large spiders. These spiders are way bigger than most spiders you might see, which is why they're also called giant wood spiders or banana spiders. Their impressive size helps them build and manage those massive webs.
Super strong silk. The silk that Nephila spiders produce is so strong and distinctive that it actually has a golden or yellowish tint to it. This special silk is one of the reasons their webs look so different from ordinary spider webs.
