Thailand's Royal Home. The Grand Palace became the official residence of the Kings of Siam in 1782 and has stayed at the heart of Bangkok ever since. It's been the most important palace in Thailand for more than two centuries.

Glittering Golden Complex. The Grand Palace is not just one building but a whole complex of beautiful structures with golden roofs, intricate decorations, and traditional Thai architecture. Every building inside has its own special purpose for the royal family and ceremonies.

Where History Happens. Today, kings don't live at the Grand Palace anymore, but it's still used for the most important royal events and state ceremonies throughout the year. This is where Thailand's most significant royal occasions take place.

Visitors from Everywhere. The Grand Palace is one of Thailand's biggest tourist attractions, with over eight million people visiting every year to see its incredible beauty and learn about Thai royal history.

Royal Government Center. Until 1925, the king, his court, and the entire royal government all lived and worked at the Grand Palace. It was the true heart of power in Siam for over 140 years.
