Cool Facts
Four Major Tournaments. The Grand Slam is made up of the Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon, and US Open. These are the biggest tennis competitions in the world, and winning all four in one calendar year is an incredible achievement.
Super Rare Achievement. Very few players have ever won a Grand Slam. It requires months of intense competition and peak performance at the highest level of the sport.
Works in Doubles Too. Players can win a Grand Slam in doubles (playing with a partner) either as a consistent team or with different partners. A Grand Slam is just as special in doubles as it is in singles.
Calendar Year Matters. A true Grand Slam means winning all four tournaments within the same calendar year (January to December). If you win them in consecutive years but across two different years, it's called a non-calendar-year Grand Slam.
Career Grand Slam. Winning all four major championships at any point during your entire playing career, even if not in the same year, is called a Career Grand Slam and is still an amazing accomplishment.
