Half eagle, half lion. Griffins have the powerful body and back legs of a lion, but their front is pure eagle with wings, talons, and a sharp beak. This makes them perfectly suited for both ruling the sky and the ground.

Guardian of treasure. In many ancient stories, griffins were fierce protectors who guarded precious things like gold and jewels. Kings and warriors saw them as symbols of power and bravery.

Ancient symbol. People across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia created griffin legends long ago, even though they'd never actually seen one. The creature appeared on shields, royal emblems, and ancient artwork.

Real creature inspiration. Some historians think griffin legends started when people found fossils of ancient animals they didn't understand, like huge eagles or dinosaurs. Their imaginations filled in the rest.

Symbol of royalty. Because griffins were so powerful and rare in legend, kings used them on their coats of arms to show strength and nobility.
