Two giant drops. Gullfoss has two separate waterfalls, one after the other, that crash down into a deep canyon carved by the Hvítá river. The water tumbles a total of about 32 meters (105 feet) in these powerful drops.

Misty and roaring. The waterfall is so powerful and creates such a huge spray of water that visitors standing nearby often get soaked by the mist. On sunny days, rainbows often shimmer in that mist.

Golden Circle stop. Gullfoss is one of the three main stops on Iceland's famous Golden Circle tour, along with a geysir and a national park, making it one of the country's most visited attractions.

Shaped by ancient ice. The canyon that Gullfoss flows through was carved out over thousands of years by glacial meltwater during the Ice Age, creating the dramatic landscape you see today.

Powerful water flow. During spring when snow and ice melt from Iceland's glaciers, Gullfoss roars even louder and more water crashes down, making it even more spectacular to see.
