Located in Scotland. Loch Ness is a huge freshwater lake in the Scottish Highlands, a mountainous region in northern Scotland. It's connected to the sea through the River Ness, which flows from its northern end.

Incredibly deep and dark. The loch is so deep and the water is so dark that it's hard to see what might be swimming in it. This mystery has made it the perfect place for monster legends.

The famous Nessie sightings. People have reported seeing a mysterious creature in Loch Ness for many years, calling it the Loch Ness Monster or affectionately 'Nessie.' These claimed sightings have made the loch world-famous, even though no one has ever proved the monster really exists.

A cryptozoological mystery. Cryptozoology is the study of animals that may not exist yet or are not scientifically proven. Loch Ness is one of the most famous cryptozoological locations in the world because of all the Nessie stories.
