Vietnam's heart. Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam and home to nearly 9 million people, making it the country's second-largest city. It's where the government, universities, and important national buildings are located.

A city of lakes. Hanoi is famous for its beautiful lakes, especially Hoàn Kiếm Lake right in the middle of the city. These peaceful waters are surrounded by temples and parks where locals and visitors love to walk and relax.

Unique streets. The city has narrow alleys and tiny tube houses that are squeezed tightly together, creating a maze-like neighborhood feel. You might also see stunning French colonial buildings left from when France ruled Vietnam, mixed in with modern apartments.

Visitors welcome. Nearly 19 million visitors came to Hanoi in 2022, from both inside Vietnam and around the world. They come to see historic sites, taste amazing food, and explore one of Asia's most interesting cities.

Economic powerhouse. Hanoi produces about 48 billion dollars worth of goods and services every year, making it one of Vietnam's richest cities. Only Ho Chi Minh City, another major Vietnamese city, produces more money.
