Around the World. Jeanne Baret became the first woman ever to sail all the way around Earth on a boat, completing her incredible journey between 1766 and 1769. She traveled on two ships called the Boudeuse and the รtoile with explorer Louis Antoine de Bougainville.
Plant Collector. Jeanne was a naturalist and botanist who loved finding and studying plants during her voyage. She discovered new species that scientists had never seen or named before, and her work helped people understand plants from all over the world.
Secret Identity. For much of her journey, Jeanne had to pretend to be a man because women weren't allowed to sail on explorer ships back then. When people finally found out she was a woman, she had already proven she was just as brave and capable as any male explorer.
Incredible Voyage. Jeanne's ship sailed to places like South America, Tahiti, and across the Pacific Ocean, collecting specimens and information about nature that no European scientists had studied before. This dangerous journey took three years and required incredible strength and determination.
