Cool Facts
The Raider's Challenge. One player from your team, called the raider, runs into the other team's half of the court and tries to tag as many defenders as possible in just 30 seconds. The tricky part is they have to keep chanting 'kabaddi, kabaddi' the whole time without taking a breath!
Points and Scoring. When a raider successfully tags a defender, their team gets a point. But if the defenders manage to tackle the raider and stop them from getting back to their own side, the defending team gets a point instead.
Players Come Back. When a player gets tagged or tackled, they're temporarily out of the game. But here's the cool part: they can jump back in as soon as their team scores another point, so nobody stays out for long.
Balanced Teamwork. Both teams get equal chances to raid and defend because raids alternate back and forth throughout the match. Seven players on each team work together to either stop the raider or help them escape.
Ancient Tradition. Kabaddi has been played for hundreds of years in South Asian countries like India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan, making it one of the oldest team sports still played today.
