Horned meat-eater. Majungasaurus was a theropod dinosaur, meaning it walked on two powerful legs and hunted other animals for food. It had a distinctive knob of bone on top of its head that made it look extra fierce.
Madagascar only. This dinosaur lived on the island of Madagascar, which was separated from other continents. Scientists think this isolation meant Majungasaurus evolved in its own unique way compared to dinosaurs elsewhere.
Last of its kind. Majungasaurus lived from 70 to 66 million years ago, making it one of the very last non-bird dinosaurs. It went extinct during the same event that wiped out all the other dinosaurs.
Different name mystery. This dinosaur was originally called Majungatholus, but scientists later decided Majungasaurus was the correct name. Both names refer to the exact same dinosaur species.
