Cool Facts
How the game works. One player closes their eyes and calls out "Marco" while other players answer "Polo." The caller uses the sound of their voices to figure out where everyone is and tries to tag them.
Finding without seeing. The person who is "it" has to listen really carefully to where the "Polo" sounds are coming from to chase down the other swimmers. It's like being a detective using only your ears.
Getting tagged out. When someone gets caught, they often become the next person who is "it," though sometimes the tagged person is just out and sits on the sidelines until a new round starts.
Pool party favorite. Marco Polo has been a popular swimming pool game for generations and is played by kids and families all around the world at pools, beaches, and water parks.
No equipment needed. You don't need any special gear or balls, just swimmers, a pool, and your voices, which makes it a super easy game to start anytime.
