Jumping plumber hero. Mario is a plumber who lives in the Mushroom Kingdom with his younger twin brother Luigi. Together they go on adventures rescuing Princess Peach from the villain Bowser.

Shigeru Miyamoto's creation. Mario was created by Japanese video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto and became the mascot of Nintendo, one of the biggest video game companies in the world.

Instantly recognizable look. You can spot Mario by his large nose, big mustache, red overalls, red cap, and his high-pitched, exaggerated Italian accent that makes him sound funny and charming.

More than just games. Mario started in the Donkey Kong video game but became so popular that he now stars in his own huge franchise with hundreds of games and appears in many other Nintendo games too.

Power-ups change everything. During their adventures, Mario and Luigi find special power-ups that give them brand new abilities to help them defeat enemies and solve puzzles in creative ways.
