A Fortified Palace Complex. The Kremlin is like a giant walled city inside Moscow, with its own palaces, cathedrals, towers, and walls all protecting important government buildings. It's been the center of Russian power for over 800 years.

Home of Russian Leaders. The Grand Kremlin Palace inside the Kremlin was where Russian Tsars once lived as kings. Today, the President of Russia uses it as an official residence and workplace.

Four Amazing Cathedrals. Inside the Kremlin's walls stand four beautiful cathedrals with golden domes that visitors can see from across Moscow. These churches are some of the oldest and most important buildings in all of Russia.

Overlooking the City. The Kremlin sits on a hill next to the Moskva River and looks down on the famous Red Square to the east. It's positioned perfectly to guard and control the whole city below.

Five Grand Palaces. Along with its cathedrals, the Kremlin contains five different palaces connected by walls and towers. Each palace was built at different times and shows the story of Russian rulers throughout history.
