Bikes Everywhere. The Netherlands has more bicycles than people, and Dutch cyclists are so skilled at riding in all conditions that bikes are the main way people get around cities and towns.
Masters of Water. Much of the Netherlands sits below sea level, so the Dutch invented incredible systems of dikes, canals, and pumps to keep water out and prevent flooding, turning a watery challenge into safe, dry land.
More Than Europe. While most people think of the Netherlands as being in Europe, it also has overseas territories in the Caribbean that are part of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
Dutch Language. Dutch is the main language spoken in the Netherlands, and West Frisian is also official in the northern province of Friesland, showing the country's regional cultures.
Twelve Provinces. The Netherlands is divided into twelve provinces on its European side, plus three special municipalities in the Caribbean, each with their own character and charm.
