Massive coral reef. The Ningaloo Reef stretches for 260 kilometres along the coast, making it Australia's largest fringing coral reef. What makes it extra special is that it sits right next to the land instead of far out in the ocean like most big reefs.

World Heritage Site. The Ningaloo Coast is protected as a World Heritage Site because it's so unique and important. The whole area covers over 700,000 hectares of ocean and land that are carefully preserved.

Ocean full of life. Because the reef is so close to shore, thousands of different fish, sea creatures, and plants live there. The shallow water between the reef and the beach creates perfect homes for marine animals.

Far from cities. The Ningaloo Coast is about 1,200 kilometres north of Perth in northwestern Australia. It's quite remote, which helps keep it wild and wonderful.

Island treasures nearby. The Muiron Islands and Cape Farquhar are part of this coastal zone and add even more wildlife habitat to the area.
