Massive land giant. Paraceratherium was one of the largest terrestrial mammals that ever existed, making it a truly colossal creature that dwarfed most other animals of its time.
Spread across continents. These enormous animals lived across Eurasia, from what is now China all the way to the Balkans, showing they thrived in many different environments.
No horns here. Unlike modern rhinos, Paraceratherium had no horns at all, giving it a sleek head despite its massive body.
Ancient time period. Paraceratherium lived during the Oligocene epoch, a time period that occurred roughly 34 to 23 million years ago.
First discovery. The first fossils of Paraceratherium were found in what is now Pakistan, which helped scientists learn about this incredible extinct creature.
