Slow moving river. Perito Moreno is a glacier, which is basically a giant river of ice that moves downhill very slowly, advancing about 2 meters each day.
Brilliant blue color. The glacier glows an incredible bright blue because the ice is packed so densely that it absorbs red light and reflects blue light back at you.
Calving ice chunks. Every so often, huge chunks of ice break off and crash into the lake below with a thunderous roar, creating massive waves and icebergs.
Located in Patagonia. The glacier sits in Los Glaciares National Park in southwest Argentina, near the border with Chile, in a wild region called Patagonia.
Popular tourist spot. Thousands of visitors travel to Argentina each year to see Perito Moreno because it's one of the most beautiful and accessible glaciers in the world.
