Divides two countries. The Pyrenees form a natural border between France and Spain, running from the Atlantic coast all the way to the Mediterranean Sea.

Nearly 500 kilometers long. That's about 310 miles of rugged mountains stretching across southwestern Europe, making it one of the major mountain ranges on the continent.

Aneto is the tallest peak. The highest mountain in the Pyrenees is called Aneto, which rises 3,404 meters (11,168 feet) into the Spanish sky in a region called Huesca.

Connected to other mountains. On the western end, the Pyrenees join with the Cantabrian Mountains, which means they're part of a larger mountain system stretching across the Iberian Peninsula.

Ends at the Mediterranean. One end of the Pyrenees reaches Cap de Creus on the Mediterranean coast, where mountains meet the sea in northeastern Spain.
