The smiling marsupial. Quokkas have round faces and seem to smile all the time, which makes them look incredibly happy and friendly, even though they're just being normal quokkas!
Cat-sized hoppers. Quokkas are small macropods (hopping animals) about the size of a house cat, making them much tinier than their kangaroo cousins.
Night-time nibblers. These marsupials are mainly nocturnal, meaning they wake up and hunt for food at night when it's cool and dark.
Veggie lovers. Quokkas are herbivores that munch on leaves, shrubs, and grasses, they're picky eaters who only eat plants.
One-of-a-kind animal. The quokka is the only member of the genus Setonix, which means it's so unique that scientists gave it its own special group all to itself.
