Instructions in writing. A recipe lists all the ingredients you need and the steps to follow so that anyone can make the same dish, whether you're baking a cake or making pasta sauce.
Reflects who we are. Recipe books show what different cultures and families love to eat, and they change over time as people discover new ingredients and cooking styles.
