Naval explorer. Robert Falcon Scott was a British naval officer who dedicated his life to exploring the frozen Antarctic continent, one of the most dangerous places on Earth.

Two expeditions. Scott led the Discovery Expedition from 1901 to 1904 and then the Terra Nova Expedition from 1910 to 1913, both attempting to reach the South Pole.

South Pole race. Scott raced against Norwegian explorer Roald Amundsen to reach the South Pole first, but Amundsen arrived five days earlier in December 1911.

Famous diary. Scott kept detailed journals during his expeditions that became famous historical records, showing his determination even when conditions were extremely harsh.

Ultimate sacrifice. Scott and his team died during their return journey from the South Pole in 1913, becoming legendary for their bravery in one of history's greatest survival stories.
