Big reaction against logic. Romanticism started in Europe in the late 1700s as artists and writers got tired of the Enlightenment's focus on reason and rules. They wanted to celebrate imagination, emotions, and individual feelings instead.

Nature was everything. Romantic artists fell in love with wild, dramatic landscapes, stormy skies, and untamed nature. They painted mountains, forests, and oceans to show how powerful and beautiful the natural world was.

Feelings mattered most. For Romantics, what you felt inside was just as important as what you could prove with facts. They wrote passionate poetry and music that expressed deep emotions, dreams, and personal experiences.

Fighting the factories. The Industrial Revolution was filling Europe with factories and machines, and Romantics hated how cold and mechanical everything felt. They wanted to remind people that creativity, beauty, and nature were more important than just making stuff.

Imagination over rules. Romantic artists didn't want to follow strict rules about how art should look or sound. They experimented boldly and let their imaginations run wild to create something totally new and personal.
