Ancient needles. The very first sewing needles were made from bone or wood, crafted by people long ago who needed to sew animal skins and plant fibers together.
Modern metal magic. Today's sewing needles are made from high carbon steel wire and coated with nickel or gold to keep them from rusting and getting damaged.
Fancy embroidery needles. The fanciest needles used for detailed embroidery are plated with platinum and titanium alloy, making them super durable and smooth.
Needle homes. Sewing needles have traditionally been stored in pretty needle books, cases, or special boxes called étuis that also held scissors, tweezers, and pencils.
