Mountain rescuers. Ski patrols are trained teams that work on ski slopes to help injured skiers and snowboarders. They're like the first responders of the mountain, getting to people quickly when accidents happen.

Medical experts. Many ski patrollers have special certifications like Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC) and EMS training so they can treat injuries in cold, snowy, remote places. They know how to handle emergencies when hospitals are far away.

Creative rescues. Depending on the mountain's terrain, patrollers might use rescue toboggans, snowmobiles, or even helicopters to get injured people to safety. For really dangerous situations, they can rappel down cliffs or dig through avalanches to find people.

Safety detectives. Before the mountain opens each morning, ski patrols check all the trails for hazards, trigger avalanches safely on purpose, and set up equipment. At the end of the day, they sweep the mountain to make sure no one is left behind.

Rule enforcers. Ski patrollers also make sure skiers follow safety rules and stay in safe areas. They help prevent accidents by keeping people out of dangerous zones.
