Lives in the Arctic. Snowy owls make their homes in the frozen tundra regions of North America and the Palearctic, where they breed and hunt in the extreme cold.

Brilliant white feathers. They are the only owls with mostly white plumage, which helps them blend in perfectly with snow and ice to sneak up on prey.

Males are whiter than females. Male snowy owls tend to be pure white, while females and young males have brown flecks and markings that they gradually lose as they grow up.

One of the biggest owls. Snowy owls are among the largest owl species in the whole world, giving them the size and strength to hunt in harsh Arctic conditions.
