Satellite Pioneers. The Soviet Union launched Sputnik, the first artificial satellite, in 1957, which shocked the world and started the Space Race. This small metal sphere orbiting Earth proved that space travel was possible.

Moon Landing Glory. On July 20, 1969, American astronaut Neil Armstrong became the first human to walk on the Moon, marking the biggest achievement in the Space Race. The Soviet Union had tried to get there first, but the U.S. succeeded.

Technology Breakthrough. The Space Race pushed scientists and engineers to invent amazing new technologies that we still use today, like satellites for weather forecasting, GPS, and TV broadcasting.

Human in Space. Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin was the first human in space on April 12, 1961, orbiting Earth in his Vostok 1 spacecraft. This incredible moment showed that humans could survive and work in space.

Cold War Competition. Both countries raced to prove they were the most advanced and powerful, using space achievements to show their strength during the tense Cold War between the Soviet Union and United States.
