Supersaurus

Absolutely enormous. Supersaurus could grow 33 to 40 meters long, which is about the length of three school buses lined up. The biggest one might have even stretched past 40 meters, making it one of the longest dinosaurs that ever lived.

Heavy as trucks. Even though Supersaurus was so long, it weighed between 35 to 44 metric tons. That's about as heavy as 7 to 9 African elephants combined.

Leaf-eating long neck. Supersaurus was a diplodocid sauropod, which means it had a super long neck perfect for eating leaves from really tall trees. Its long neck let it reach food that other dinosaurs couldn't get to.

Ancient Colorado discovery. The first Supersaurus fossil was found by Vivian Jones in Colorado in 1972, buried in rocks that formed about 153 to 145 million years ago during the Late Jurassic period.

Lived on two continents. While most Supersaurus fossils come from North America, scientists found a related cousin called Dinheirosaurus in Portugal from around the same time period.
