Cool Facts
Water comes first. Finding clean water is the top priority in any survival situation because your body needs it every single day. You can find water in streams, collect rainwater, or even dig for it, but always boil or purify it if you can.
Shelter saves lives. A basic shelter protects you from wind, rain, cold, and heat. You can build one from branches, leaves, caves, or anything natural around you to keep your body temperature safe.
Fire keeps you warm. Fire cooks food, purifies water, keeps you warm, and signals for help. Learning to make fire without matches, like using friction or sparks from rocks, is a skill that has helped humans survive for thousands of years.
Food takes patience. You can find nuts, berries, roots, and insects to eat, but you must know which plants are safe because some are poisonous. Fishing and trapping are also ways to get protein when you're stranded.
Navigation matters most. If you can figure out which direction you're going using the sun, stars, moss on trees, or landmarks, you can either stay put to be found or walk safely toward help.
