Official Thai Money. The baht is the currency that Thai people use to buy things, just like dollars in the United States or euros in Europe. It's been the official money of Thailand since the Sukhothai period, which was hundreds of years ago.

Made of 100 Pieces. One baht is divided into 100 smaller units called satang. It's similar to how a dollar splits into 100 cents.

Royal Coin Change. A long time ago, baht money was made in a rounded form called podduang, but in 1860, King Rama IV decided to switch to flat coins that were easier to carry and use.

Bank of Thailand Rules. The Bank of Thailand is in charge of making and issuing all the baht money that people use. It's the official institution that controls Thailand's currency.

Top 10 Global Currency. As of 2023, the Thai baht is ranked as the 10th-most-frequently used payment currency in the entire world, meaning lots of people and businesses around the globe use it.
