Board and rope. Wakeboarders stand on a special board and hold a rope connected to a motorboat that pulls them across the water at high speeds.
Riding the wake. The boat creates a big wave called a wake, and riders use it like a ramp to jump into the air and perform amazing tricks.
Mixed sport origins. Wakeboarding combines techniques from water skiing, snowboarding, and surfing, blending the best parts of all three sports together.
Aerial stunts. The main goal is to do tricks while flying through the air, like flips, spins, and grabs, landing smoothly back on the water.
Special equipment. Riders wear a life jacket, helmet, and wake boots (special boards with bindings) that keep their feet secure during jumps and tricks.
