Started late in life. Kandinsky didn't begin painting seriously until he was 30 years old, which shows it's never too late to discover your passion.

Colors had feelings. He believed that colors and shapes could express emotions and ideas without needing to look like real objects, which was a totally new idea for art.

Russian artist abroad. Born in Moscow, Kandinsky spent much of his life working in Germany, where he taught other artists and spread his revolutionary ideas about abstract painting.

Wrote about his art. Kandinsky didn't just paint, he also wrote important books explaining his theories about how art could be completely non-realistic and still be beautiful and meaningful.

Art pioneer. He is one of the first artists ever to create purely abstract paintings, which changed art history forever and inspired countless artists after him.
