Multiple delicious layers. Wedding cakes are typically built with many tiers stacked on top of each other, though sometimes couples only make one real cake tier to share while the rest are just for show.

Not always served. Interestingly, modern wedding cakes aren't always actually served to guests anymore. Some couples use them purely as decoration, so the cake might be more special to the bride and groom than to everyone else at the party.
