Mighty long snout. Weevils have an extra-long snout sticking out from their head that makes them look like they're wearing a long nose. They use this snout to poke holes in plants and seeds so they can lay their eggs inside.

Seriously small size. Most weevils are teeny tiny, less than 6 millimeters long, which is about the width of a pencil lead. Even though they're small, there are nearly 97,000 different species of them living all over the world.

Plant-loving munchers. Weevils are herbivores, meaning they only eat plants, and they can be found on almost any kind of plant you can think of. Different weevil species have favorite foods, like some love beans, some love cotton, and some love trees.

Beetle family members. Weevils are actually a special type of beetle, and most of them belong to a huge family called Curculionidae. This family is so big that it's one of the largest groups of beetles on the planet.
