Spirit shape-shifters. Yōkai can transform into different forms, sometimes appearing as animals like foxes or raccoons, sometimes as ghostly humanoids, and sometimes as everyday objects that suddenly come alive.

Many personalities. Some yōkai are mean troublemakers, some are genuinely helpful to humans, and some are just curious and mischievous, playing pranks without meaning real harm.

Born from nature. Yōkai often embody the mysterious and uncanny feelings you get in dark forests, old buildings, or during strange natural events, representing the magic hidden in the world around us.

Animal disguises. Many famous yōkai take the shape of foxes, badgers, snakes, and other creatures, using their new forms to interact with or trick humans.

Mysterious origins. Yōkai can come from lonely, old places, from objects that have existed for hundreds of years, or from strong human emotions like sadness, anger, or loneliness.
