Three column styles. Ancient Greeks invented three main types of columns: the Doric (simple and strong), the Ionic (with curly decorations on top), and the Corinthian (super fancy with leaf designs). Each style looked different but followed the same mathematical rules.

Math and beauty together. Greeks believed buildings should follow perfect mathematical proportions so they'd look beautiful to the human eye. They even slightly curved their temple walls and columns so they'd look straighter from far away.

Lasted over 1000 years. Greek architecture didn't happen all at once. It flourished from around 900 BC until about the 1st century AD, giving architects 1000 years to experiment and perfect their craft.

Spread across the world. Greeks didn't just build on mainland Greece. They built amazing structures in the Peloponnese, Aegean Islands, and in colonies they created in places like Anatolia and Italy, spreading their style everywhere.

Inspired everything after. The way Greeks designed buildings with balance, harmony, and beautiful columns became the blueprint for architecture for thousands of years after, from Roman buildings to modern courthouses and museums.
