Super dramatic style. Baroque artists loved bold colors, wild movement, and extreme emotions in their paintings and sculptures. Everything was BIG and flashy compared to the calm Renaissance art that came before it.
Church power move. The Catholic Church actually encouraged Baroque art to make churches look more impressive and emotional. They wanted people to feel amazed when they walked inside, almost like the art was jumping out at them.
Music with pizzazz. Baroque composers like Vivaldi and Bach created dramatic music with lots of twists, turns, and fancy flourishes. You might hear it in movie soundtracks today because it sounds so energetic and exciting.
Curved and ornate buildings. Baroque architects designed buildings with curves, swirling decorations, and tons of details crammed everywhere. Churches and palaces from this time still look stunning because they're so elaborately decorated.
Swept across Europe. Baroque style started in Italy around 1600 and spread to Spain, France, Germany, and beyond. It was one of the first art movements that really connected so many countries with the same wild, passionate style.
