Three types of Emmys. The Primetime Emmys come in three flavors: regular awards for great shows and acting, Creative Arts Emmys for technical wizards who work behind the scenes, and Engineering Emmys for people who invent cool TV technology.

Started way back. The first Emmy Awards happened in 1949, way before color TV was even common! It was just called the Emmy Award until other Emmy ceremonies were created in the 1970s.

Recognizing excellence. The Emmy Awards are given by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences to celebrate the best artistic and technical achievements in American primetime television programming.

Spreading across sectors. When people realized TV had so many different types of shows and work, they created International Emmys and Daytime Emmys to honor shows in other time slots and countries.
