Plants are ancient. Plants have been growing on Earth for more than 3.5 billion years, which means they've been here way longer than dinosaurs or humans.

Flowers are everywhere. Of all the plants on land, about 369,000 species are flowering plants. That's the biggest group, and flowers help plants make seeds and spread around the world.

Many ways to study. Botanists look at plants in many ways: some study how plants make food, others look at their cells and genes, and some watch how plants live together in nature.

Millions of plant types. Scientists have named about 410,000 different kinds of land plants, including tiny mosses, ferns, bushes, and huge trees.

Plant scientists explore. A botanist is a scientist who spends their time learning everything about plants, from how their roots drink water to how leaves catch sunlight.
