Cool Facts
Thunder Leg Dinosaur. Brontomerus was a sauropod, one of the longest dinosaurs that ever lived, with a super long neck for eating plants high in the trees.
Champion Muscles. This dinosaur had the biggest thigh muscles compared to its body size of any sauropod we know about, which made it unusually powerful in its back legs.
Unusual Hip Bones. Its hipbones were shaped differently than other sauropods, specially built to anchor those enormous thigh muscles that helped it move across the land.
Named in 2011. Scientists discovered and officially named Brontomerus in 2011, making it a fairly recent addition to our knowledge of dinosaurs.
Incomplete Skeleton. We only have partial fossil remains of this dinosaur, which makes it tricky for scientists to figure out exactly where it fits in the sauropod family tree.
