Home to Angkor Wat. Cambodia contains Angkor Wat, one of the largest and most impressive temple complexes in the world, built centuries ago by the Khmer Empire.

Mekong River flows through. The mighty Mekong River runs through Cambodia and meets the Tonlé Sap, Southeast Asia's biggest freshwater lake, creating one of the region's most important waterways.

Tropical climate year-round. Cambodia has a warm, wet tropical climate with lots of rainfall, making it perfect for lush forests and rice paddies that feed millions of people.

Phnom Penh is the capital. Phnom Penh, Cambodia's largest city, sits where the Mekong and Tonlé Sap rivers meet and is home to most of Cambodia's 17 million people.

Khmer people and culture. The majority of Cambodians are ethnically Khmer, sharing a rich language, traditions, and heritage that go back over a thousand years.
