Nine Olympic golds. Carl Lewis won nine Olympic gold medals during his incredible athletic career, making him one of the most decorated Olympians of all time. He competed in both sprinting and long jumping events.
Super speedy sprinter. Lewis was a dominant sprinter who could run short distances incredibly fast. His speed combined with his jumping ability made him nearly unbeatable in competitions.
Long jump legend. He was also an amazing long jumper who won Olympic gold in that event four times in a row, from 1984 to 1996. This made him one of the most consistent champions in Olympic history.
10 World Championships medals. Beyond the Olympics, Lewis won 10 medals at the World Championships in track and field, including eight gold medals. He was a champion on the world stage for many years.
Coach and mentor. After retiring from competition, Lewis became the head track and field coach for the University of Houston. He now helps train the next generation of athletes.
