Half human, half horse. Centaurs had the top half of a human (head, arms, and torso) attached to the lower body and legs of a horse. This unusual mix made them powerful but also unpredictable in ancient Greek stories.

Mountain dwellers. According to Greek mythology, centaurs lived in the mountains of Thessaly in northern Greece. These wild, untamed creatures were said to roam the rocky highlands where few humans dared to go.

Named after Centaurus. In one version of the myth, all the centaurs were named after an ancestor called Centaurus. Through his brother Lapithes, the centaurs were related to the legendary Lapith tribe, making them distant cousins to a famous group of humans.

Legendary troublemakers. In Greek myths, centaurs were often portrayed as wild and chaotic, getting into fights and causing problems. They appeared in many famous stories, including battles with the Lapiths and adventures with Greek heroes.
