Father of Information Theory. Claude Shannon created a whole new branch of science called information theory, which explains how to send messages perfectly through any channel, like radio waves or telephone wires. His ideas became the foundation for everything digital we use today.

Genius with Many Talents. Shannon was not just a mathematician but also an electrical engineer, computer scientist, and inventor all at once. He could solve hard problems in many different fields because he understood how everything connects.

Cracking Secret Codes. During World War II, Shannon did secret work on codes and cryptography, helping figure out how to send messages that enemies couldn't read. His work helped protect important military information.

Measuring Information. Shannon came up with a way to measure how much information is in a message using something called 'bits,' which are tiny pieces of data. This idea became the foundation for all modern computers and the internet.

Early Computers and Switching. Shannon showed how to use electrical switches to do mathematical logic, which became the basis for how computer circuits work. Without his discoveries, our phones and computers would never have been invented.
