Medium-sized wild cat. The Eurasian lynx is one of four types of lynx in the world, and it is built for hunting in snowy, forested areas with powerful legs and a stocky body.

Huge territory. This lynx lives across an enormous range stretching from Europe through Central Asia, Siberia, the Tibetan Plateau, and even the Himalayas, wherever cold forests provide good hunting.

Forest mountain dweller. Eurasian lynxes prefer temperate and boreal forests and can live at heights up to 5,500 meters (18,000 feet), which is higher than most mountains in North America.

Facing serious threats. These beautiful cats are in trouble because forests are being cut down, their prey like deer and rabbits are disappearing, and hunters illegally kill them for their fur.
