Jeweled works of art. Fabergé eggs were fancy decorated eggs made by a Russian jewelry company called the House of Fabergé, starting in 1885. They were crafted with precious metals, gems, and intricate designs that made each one completely unique.
Imperial Easter gifts. The most famous Fabergé eggs were 50 special Imperial Easter eggs created for Russian royalty between 1885 and 1917. These eggs were given as luxury gifts to the Tsar and his family during Easter celebrations.
Made in Saint Petersburg. These incredible eggs were created in Saint Petersburg, Russia, by the talented jewelry firm House of Fabergé under the direction of Peter Carl Fabergé. The company became famous across the world for their beautiful creations.
Precious treasures survive. About 69 eggs were made during the time of the Russian Tsar, and 61 of them still exist today. The Imperial Easter eggs are now worth huge amounts of money and are some of the most wanted collector's items in the world.
