Magical spirit people. Fairies are legendary creatures found in stories from many European countries. They are usually described as looking like small humans, but with special magical powers that let them do impossible things.

Shape shifters and tricksters. In old folklore, fairies could change their appearance and loved to play pranks on humans. Some stories say they could disappear, grant wishes, or cast spells depending on whether they were in a good mood or bad mood.

Creatures of nature. Fairies were often thought to live in forests, gardens, and hidden magical places. People believed they were spirits connected to the natural world, like guardians of flowers, streams, and wild places.

Found everywhere in Europe. Different European countries had their own fairy stories. England, Ireland, Scotland, France, and other nations all told tales about these magical beings, each with slightly different descriptions and personalities.

Part of the spirit world. Fairies were believed to be a type of supernatural spirit, not quite human and not quite animal. They existed in a magical realm that overlapped with our own world but remained mostly hidden from everyday view.
